Audio Companion CDs are activities that correspond to the Rosetta Stone CD-ROM software lessons. The learner can listen to Audio Companion and practice what they’ve been learning on the computer, turning travel time into productive language learning time. Audio Companion lets the student access the power of Rosetta Stone lessons whenever and wherever they want, they can play the CD’s on a stereo, or download them to a MP3 player. It empowers the student and this product is outstanding. The way it is presented and the way it is made in the combination with computer and audio. The only problem I found and I think is a large one: that in order to install and to start learning you need to know English to begin with. If someone can help you-it is OK, but if you don’t speak the language then it is very difficult to begin. The system is effective but they have a lot of glitches with their software. I was able to install all but level 2 CD onto my HD. R.S. tech support was not very helpful at all and even rude. They told me it was my computer that was at fault. Having an Engineering degree and the fact that the application CD, Level 1 and Level 3 installed successfully made them re-think their approach. That took 3 hours of my time. I expected much more for the money I paid. My mother got it as a gift and she seems to like it a lot. Its very deductive style of learning. The installation process requires somebody that knows English, though… – and even to start the lessons itself.

The weakness of this product, staring into and responding to a computer screen: your learning experience lacks the language reinforcing mechanism of emotions inherent in human conversation, but traditionally as that can only be captured by expensive school attendance, Rosetta Stone is a broad-beginning-learning tool which will strongly familiarize you with a language....

From Rosetta Stones point of view, Google is profiting from their trademarks. By selling keywords based on Rosetta Stone French trademarks, Google is offering others the chance to sell their solution and as Rosetta Stone believes, it’s illegal.

Each level contains 4 lessons based on a theme (basics, shopping, greetings, etc.) with 4 units in each lesson. The first unit is always the shortest because each subsequent lesson contains a review of preceding lessons. So, while you may feel overwhelmed at first during the "core" portion of the unit, you will practice enough to master the content by the end of the lesson. The reviews are well-placed and very good at reinforcing your memory of the material, but for quick learners, they can be skipped.
